Astrakhan Art Gallery was founded in 1918 and was opened for visitors on December 15, 1918. The gallery represents ancient Russian art, Russian art of the 18th-begining of the 20th centuries, native art of the 20th century (painting, graphic, sculpture, decorative and applied art), Western European art and so on (8,5 thousand displays in all). B.M.Kustodiev's house-museum and V.V.Khlebnikov's house-museum are its branches.
